What is EV fleet management software?
EV fleet management software tracks where your electric vehicles are and how much charge is left in each battery. It also records how much electricity they use and what each kilometre costs. It is often called electric vehicle tracking software as well. In Fleet Scanner the same platform holds trips, routes, drivers, maintenance and document renewals. The electric vehicles sit alongside the rest of the fleet rather than in a separate system.
How is this different from normal GPS tracking?
Normal GPS tracking answers where a vehicle is. An electric fleet needs more than that. It needs to know how much charge is left, how fast it is being used, how long the vehicle spent charging and what that electricity cost. Those numbers do not exist in a diesel fleet tool, because that tool is built around litres. EV fleet management software adds them.
Can it show battery state of charge and state of health?
Yes, where the vehicle shares that data. State of charge and state of health are read from the vehicle over its CAN bus or OBD port through a compatible device. Newer electric vans, trucks and buses usually share this cleanly. Many low cost e-rickshaws do not expose full battery data, so it is worth confirming what your specific models support before planning around it.
Will it work for e-rickshaws and L5 cargo three wheelers?
Yes. EV fleet management software does not care about the size of the vehicle. Location, trips, distance, driver records and utilisation work on any vehicle with a compatible tracker fitted, including passenger e-rickshaws and L5 cargo three wheelers. How much battery detail you get depends on what that vehicle and device can share, which is usually less on cheaper models than on newer commercial ones.
Can it help plan charging at the depot?
It gives you the information a charging plan needs. You can see when each vehicle returns and what charge it comes back with. You can also see how long past sessions took. Charging can then be staggered rather than everything plugging in at once. Fleet Scanner records and reports on charging. It does not switch chargers on and off by itself, and controlling charging hardware would depend on a separate integration.
How do I compare an electric vehicle against a diesel one?
Run both in the same report. For the electric vehicle, cost per kilometre comes from units of electricity against distance. For the diesel one it comes from litres against distance. Because both sit in the same system with the same trip records, the comparison is like for like instead of two spreadsheets that were built differently.
Does it track charging done outside the depot?
Yes, where the charging session is visible to the device or entered into the system. Public charging is logged as its own session with its location and cost. That is what shows you how much a vehicle is being topped up away from your own chargers, and at what price.
Can we run it on our own server?
