Defaults are an example; use your own figures. Our guide on how to calculate GPS fleet tracking ROI explains each input.

How to use the tracking roi calculator

  1. Enter the number of vehicles and the monthly fuel spend per vehicle.
  2. Set the savings rates you expect, or keep the conservative defaults.
  3. Enter the cost of tracking and read the payback and ROI.

Where the return on fleet tracking comes from

Most of the return comes from fuel: less idling, fewer detours and less theft. The rest comes from fewer unauthorised trips, better use of each vehicle, faster billing with proof of delivery, and fewer accidents when drivers know they are monitored.

The defaults in this calculator are deliberately conservative. Measure your own baseline for a month before tracking, then compare it after three months. Our guide on how to calculate GPS fleet tracking ROI walks through that step by step.

Tracking ROI Calculator FAQs

How is the ROI of GPS tracking calculated?

ROI = (yearly savings − yearly cost of tracking) ÷ yearly cost of tracking × 100. The payback period is the one-time cost divided by the monthly net saving.

What fuel saving is realistic?

Fleets that act on idling, route and theft alerts commonly report fuel savings in the range of 5 to 15 percent. Start with a low figure and replace it with your own measured result.

What if I already have basic tracking?

Then use smaller savings rates for fuel and focus on what is new, such as fuel sensors, driver scoring or automated billing.
